For The Music School Bangalore and BIMM University, one of Europe's most prestigious contemporary music institutions, that beginning was a visit.
In April 2024, Lucy Mayers, Director of International Relations at BIMM University, made her way to TMSB's campus in Bangalore. It was not a routine courtesy call. It was the first step in what would become one of the most significant international academic partnerships in TMSB's history, a formal credit transfer arrangement that today gives
TMSB students direct entry into the final year of Bachelor's degree programs at BIMM campuses across the United Kingdom, Germany, and Ireland. That journey began here. In Bangalore. With a conversation.
The Visit
Lucy Mayers' arrival at TMSB in April 2024 brought with it an immediate and tangible energy, the sense that something important was beginning.
As Director of International Relations at BIMM, Lucy's role is to build and nurture the global network of academic partnerships that connect students from around the world with BIMM's programs and campuses. Her decision to visit TMSB in person, to see the institution, meet the faculty, and engage directly with students, reflected a genuine curiosity about what TMSB had built, and a recognition that what she found in Bangalore was something worth building a partnership around.
The session with students was open, interactive, and genuinely illuminating. Lucy shared detailed information about BIMM's courses, campuses, and student experience, and TMSB's students responded with the kind of engaged, informed enthusiasm that speaks to the quality of their preparation. For many of them, it was the first time the possibility of studying at a European music university had felt not just real but immediate.
For Lucy, it was confirmation that TMSB's students were exactly the kind of graduates BIMM wanted to welcome onto its campuses.
What Lucy Found at The Music School Bangalore (TMSB)
TMSB's standing as the only RSL VQ Delivery and Assessment Centre in India, combined with its OFQUAL-regulated Pro Courses, world class facilities, and long standing relationship with the Australian Institute of Music, made a compelling case for partnership. But beyond the credentials and the infrastructure, what Lucy encountered at TMSB was something harder to quantify and equally important, a culture of genuine musical seriousness. Students who were not just technically capable but artistically ambitious. Faculty who were active industry professionals. An institution that had spent seventeen years building toward exactly this kind of international recognition. The foundation for a partnership was clearly there.

Great partnerships rarely announce themselves as such at the moment they begin. They reveal their significance gradually, in the students whose lives they change, the careers they make possible, and the opportunities they unlock that would otherwise have remained out of reach.
This one began with a visit. And it has already changed everything.
