On the 25th of April 2026, The Music School Bangalore created that home. The TMSB Open Stage launched quietly, no grand fanfare, no elaborate announcement, with a simple and powerful idea at its heart: that Bangalore's musicians deserve a dedicated, regular, welcoming space to perform their original music, meet their creative peers, and build the kind of community that turns a city's music scene from a collection of individual artists into something genuinely alive. What happened next confirmed everything that idea had promised.

The Vision

Milton Lance, Founder and Director of The Music School Bangalore, had been thinking about the TMSB Open Stage for a long time before it launched.

"One of the things I have always strongly believed is that music education should go far beyond classrooms and certifications. Creative communities are built when artists have spaces to meet, perform, collaborate, experiment, and support one another. That is exactly the vision behind the TMSB Open Stage. "

It was a vision rooted in something TMSB had observed repeatedly over the years, that Bangalore has an extraordinary depth of musical talent, much of it operating in isolation. Gifted musicians writing songs in bedrooms. Bands rehearsing in garages. Producers crafting tracks that no audience had ever heard. Songwriters with years of material and no platform to share it.The TMSB Open Stage was built to change that. To give Bangalore's independent artists not just an occasional opportunity to perform, but a permanent, reliable, monthly home, a date in the calendar that every musician in the city could count on, plan around, and return to. The First Edition, 25th April 2026 The inaugural TMSB Open Stage took place on the 25th of April 2026 on the newly upgraded TMSB Stage, a professional performance space with enhanced acoustics, a new audio system, expanded floor space, and professional lighting that gave every artist who took to it that night a genuinely world class platform to perform on.

The format was intentionally open and inclusive. No auditions. No gatekeeping. No genre restrictions. Musicians, singers, songwriters, bands, producers, and music lovers from across Bangalore came together for an evening built around one thing, the love of original music and the community that forms around it. What unfolded was everything the vision had promised and more. Artists stepped onto the TMSB Stage carrying original compositions, music they had written, produced, and performed, some for the very first time in front of a live audience. The room responded with the kind of energy that only live, original music can generate, attentive, warm, genuinely engaged. Something was clearly beginning.

The Second Edition, And What It Revealed By the time the second TMSB Open Stage arrived just weeks later on the 16th of May, it was already clear that this was more than an event. It was a movement. What stood out most at the second edition was not simply the quality of the performances, though that was remarkable, but the sense of community that had already begun to form around the TMSB Open Stage in the short time since its launch. Artists performing original music for the first time in front of a supportive audience. Musicians who had never met collaborating on stage for the first time. Conversations between strangers turning into creative connections that would outlast the evening. A room full of people brought together by nothing more complicated, and nothing more

powerful, than the shared love of music.

Milton Lance reflected on what the second edition revealed:

"What started just last month as a simple idea to create more performance and

collaboration spaces for artists is already bringing together such an amazing mix of musicians, singers, songwriters, bands, producers, and music lovers from across the city. The energy in the room was genuinely inspiring. Looking forward to seeing this community continue to grow over the coming months.

What the TMSB Open Stage Is, And Is Not

The TMSB Open Stage is not a competition. It is not a talent show. It is not a showcase for TMSB students alone.

It is a community gathering. A monthly creative meeting point for Bangalore's independent music scene, open to any artist from across the city who has original music to share and the courage to share it. Musicians, singers, songwriters, bands, and producers from every background, every genre, and every stage of their artistic journey are welcome to take the stage.

The audience is equally open, music lovers, fans, collaborators, industry professionals, and curious members of the public are all welcome to come, listen, and become part of what is being built. No auditions. No gatekeeping. No barriers. Just music. Just community. Just Bangalore's artists coming together in one space, performing, connecting, and building something that the city has needed for a long time. Every Second Saturday The TMSB Open Stage takes place on the second Saturday of every month, a permanent fixture in Bangalore's cultural calendar, and a commitment from TMSB that this community will have a home not just today but for years to come. It began on the 25th of April 2026. It will continue for as long as Bangalore's musicians have music to share. Which is to say, forever.
