The Music School Bangalore Announces LandmarkPartnership with BIMM University, Opening DirectPathways to Europe's Leading Contemporary MusicInstitution

January 2025 | The Music School Bangalore, Bangalore
The Music School Bangalore (TMSB) announced a landmark academic partnership with BIMM University in January 2025, formalising a collaboration that gives Indian music students a direct, structured pathway from Bangalore into the final year of undergraduate degree programs at one of Europe's most prestigious and widely respected contemporary music institutions.
The partnership, made possible through the dedication and guidance of Lucy Mayers, Director of International Relations at BIMM University, whose visit to TMSB in April 2024 had planted the seeds of this collaboration, represents a defining moment in TMSB's international academic journey and a genuinely transformative opportunity for aspiring musicians in India.

From a Visit to a Partnership
The story of the TMSB-BIMM partnership is one that began not with paperwork but with a conversation. When Lucy Mayers visited TMSB's campus in Bangalore in April 2024, she encountered an institution that was already operating at an international standard, world class facilities, OFQUAL regulated qualifications, a thriving performance culture, and a student community whose ambition and preparation spoke for themselves. That visit laid the groundwork for everything that followed. Months of dialogue, alignment of academic frameworks, and the shared conviction that this partnership would genuinely serve students on both sides led to the formal announcement in January 2025, a partnership that gives Indian music students access to degree programs at BIMM's campuses across the United Kingdom, Germany, and Ireland.
Milton Lance, Founder and Director of The Music School Bangalore, expressed what the partnership represented:
"Big things happen when visionary institutions come together. This collaboration isn't just a milestone, it's a movement. It opens doors for aspiring musicians in India to access world class education and seamlessly transition to study at one of the most prestigious music institutions in the world. To every aspiring musician out there: the future is yours to create. Let's make it extraordinary. "
About BIMM University
BIMM University is Europe's leading specialist contemporary music institution — granted full university status in 2022, with nine campuses across London, Brighton, Bristol, Manchester, Birmingham, Dublin, Berlin, and Hamburg. With over 8,300 students and a curriculum spanning performance, production, music business, event management, and music marketing, BIMM has produced some of the most celebrated artists and music industry professionals of the last two decades. Notable alumni include George Ezra, James Bay, Ella Mai, Tom Odell, The Kooks, Fontaines D.C., and IDLES, Grammy winners, BRIT Award recipients, and chart-defining artists whose music is heard by millions worldwide. BIMM's combination of industry connected faculty, world class facilities, and campuses in some of Europe's most vibrant music cities makes it one of the most compelling destinations for Indian music students seeking an internationally recognised degree in contemporary music.
The Pathway; Direct Entry into BIMM's Final Year
At the heart of the TMSB-BIMM partnership is a formally agreed progression pathway that gives TMSB's most advanced students direct entry into the final year of BIMM's undergraduate degree programs.
After completing the Level 5 Associate Degree in Music at TMSB, students are eligible for final year entry into the following programs at BIMM University:
BA (Hons) Electronic Music Production
B Mus (Hons) Popular Music Performance
BA (Hons) Music Business
BA (Hons) Event Management
BA (Hons) Music Marketing, Media & Communication
BA (Hons) Music Business and Event Management
This means a TMSB student can complete two years of internationally accredited music education in Bangalore, earning an OFQUAL-regulated Level 5 Associate Degree in Music, and walk directly into the final year of a Bachelor's degree at BIMM in London, Brighton, Dublin, Berlin, or any of BIMM's other campuses across the UK, Germany, and Ireland. The financial and practical implications are significant. Students save the cost and time of the first two years of an international undergraduate degree, arriving at BIMM already qualified, already prepared, and already carrying the academic credentials that demonstrate their readiness for the demands of BIMM's final year programs.
What This Partnership Means for Indian Music Students
India has no shortage of musical talent. What it has historically lacked is a credible, structured academic pathway that connects that talent to the world's finest music institutions, without the prohibitive cost and logistical challenge of beginning an international degree from scratch. The TMSB-BIMM partnership addresses that gap directly. For an Indian music student who dreams of studying in London, or who wants to build a career in the music industry in Europe, the path is now clear; two years at TMSB in Bangalore, earning a globally recognised qualification, followed by one final year at BIMM in Europe, completing a degree from one of the continent's most respected music universities. That journey, from Bangalore to BIMM, is now a formal, structured, academically supported reality.
A Special Acknowledgement
The formalisation of the TMSB-BIMM partnership would not have been possible without the dedication and vision of Lucy Mayers, Director of International Relations at BIMM University. Her belief in TMSB's potential as a partner institution, demonstrated from the moment of her April 2024 campus visit, drove the process that culminated in this announcement. Her contribution to making this partnership a reality was acknowledged by TMSB with genuine gratitude, a recognition that great institutional partnerships are built by people who believe in them, long before the agreements are signed.
TMSB's Growing Global Network
The BIMM partnership extended TMSB's international academic network to encompass Europe for the first time, joining existing partnerships with the Australian Institute of Music in Sydney and Melbourne, Singapore Raffles Music College in Singapore, and Musicians Institute in Hollywood, California.
Together, these partnerships give TMSB students formally agreed progression pathways to world class music institutions across four continents, the UK and Europe, Australia, the USA, and Asia, all beginning from a single campus on Langford Road in Bangalore. It is a network that has been built deliberately, carefully, and with the singular purpose of ensuring that an Indian musician's ambition is never limited by geography. The BIMM partnership was the latest, and one of the most significant, expressions of that purpose.
