The visit to Sandhya Suraksha was not part of a curriculum. It was not a ticketed event or a showcase. It was simply TMSB's belief in action, that music belongs everywhere, that it can reach anyone, and that the most powerful performances are sometimes the ones that happen far from the spotlight.

Sandhya Suraksha

Sandhya Suraksha is a home for destitute women in Bangalore, a place that provides shelter, care, and dignity to women who have faced some of life's most difficult circumstances. The women who live there carry stories of resilience and quiet strength that most people will never fully know. When the TMSB team arrived that morning, they came with instruments, a repertoire of songs, and the genuine intention to give something. What they did not anticipate, and what the morning taught them, was how much they would receive in return.

What Happened That Morning

The performance began simply. Instruments were set up. The room filled with the first notes of music. And something shifted. Over eighty women, some sitting, some standing, some watching from doorways, responded to the music with a warmth and openness that the TMSB team found deeply moving. Soft claps began. Gentle smiles appeared. Eyes that had been quiet lit up with something that music alone has the power to produce, a moment of pure, uncomplicated joy.

Milton Lance, Founder and Director of The Music School Bangalore, reflected on what the morning meant:

"What touched me most wasn't the music we played, it was the warmth in their eyes, the soft claps, the small but genuine smiles that appeared with every song. You walk into a place like this thinking you're going there to give. But somewhere along the way, you realise you're the one receiving, perspective, humility, and a quiet reminder of what really matters.

Music connected us today in a way words rarely can. It softened the room, opened hearts, and reminded all of us that even in difficult circumstances, joy can still find a place to sit.
